I know I have been quite inactive the past month, alot of private stuff going on and upcoming exams, but I will try to be more active again from now on. Microsoft Employees Disrupt Wii U Best Buy EventsRemember how Nintendo was showcasing some of their E3 games at participating Best Buy stores around the country? Well, apparently Microsoft employees have been hired to go to these events and preach about the Xbox One and make comments like "why would you buy a outdated Wii U when the Xbox One is right around the corner?"
However, the employees aren't getting what they hoped for. Most customers just start bashing the Xbox One in response. Seriously, Microsoft, the people attending these Best Buy Wii U events are people who are intimately familiar with the crap you pulled at E3. They ain't takin' your shit.
At first I thought this might just be a case of one really loyal Microsoft employee taking matters into his own hands (especially since the original source was /v/), but reports have come in from numerous Best Buy's around the country that indicate many Microsoft employees have ambushed the demo lines trying to persuade people to switch to the Xbox One.

Please Pants Responsibly (Paper Notebooks FTW)

There are two ways to write a novel.  Plotting (you make an outline, a plan, a roadmap if you will, and then you sit down and write it) and pantsing (you write "by the seat of your pants, throwing caution to the wind).  So when I get asked if I'm a plotter or a pantser, I'm all like er, uh, hold on, let me?  Pantser?  I think?  But I kind of, um, do planny things?
And it gets kind of awkward because in these inarticulate moments I have managed to confuse everyone including myself. And probably spilled a drink.
In recent discussions, however, I've had a bit of a revelation, silly as it is. I've realized that I -- like many writers -- am a plotter/pantser hybrid.  And perhaps what I'm doing is something we could call Pantsing Responsibly.  And, maybe, just maybe, I could share some of my responsible pantsing tips with other writers. Starting with paper notebooks.

The Used Game ParadigmOver the course of this past generation I've been watching the video game market react to the way it's been forced to deal with increasing changes. I've come out against used game sales and even written a journal about boycotting GameStop because (like most people at the time) I believed they were the root cause of all the problems the video game industry has. But that's something I don't believe now as intently as i did then. From where I sit, piracy and used games sales are a problem, but not in the way game companies want us to believe that they are.
Used games are a good thing for consumers. We get to try games out, and if we don't like what we see or finish it early, we trade it in and try another title instead. It's a very good system for us since video game rentals are much harder to come by. Most video rental stores in America have gone extinct and outside specific Red Box Kiosks there aren't a lot of places for consumers to rent video games. The exception, of course, being thr

SPIKE updatesJust thought I'd share with you guys some updates on the progress of finishing my "SPIKE" novel.
A lot of people have asked me how it's going, when it will be published and stuff. I really appreciate getting asked these things because it shows that people are actually interested in my writings, and that it just such a great feeling :aww:
I've got two news for you guys today though: one bad news and one good news. Let's start with the bad news.
I haven't finished writing SPIKE yet.
And I honestly don't know when it will be finished - which oddly enough brings us to the good news:
I've made a new, major decision in the SPIKE story that I think a lot of you will be happy to hear. As usual I don't want to spoil too much, but there is a part in the story where Spike and Sam are separated from each other for quite a long while. At first I was planning on only writing from Spike's point of view, like, what he's experiencing during this separation period. I figured that since he's the main cha

DeviantArt Town Hall meeting

So last Saturday, I was invited to an official dA "Town Hall" meetup by $Heidi here in NYC! I was so flattered to get the invite, I've never been to any dA meetup so I had no idea what to expect from it but it was actually really interesting! I got to meet a group of awesome deviants, including +spyed himself, who is actually a very normal and chill dude for being the mighty CEO of deviantArt.

The dA staff members that were there, $Heidi, `aunnyd, and +spyed, talked to all of us about a lot of different aspects of the site. They genuinely cared about my (and the other 10 or so deviants') opinion about a variety of devious matters - everything from the critique widgets to small site tweakings to dA Muro to art theft and mature content issues. I was really impressed that they took the time to come all the way out to NYC to meet deviants in person and ask our opinions. DeviantArt loves you, it's true, and the admins and staff are working hard to make the site better than ever, so everyone: stick around and you will see improvements and new awesome features comin' your way!

I got to meet so many people I admire, all who live around the NYC area - =ProdigyBombay (who I got a burger with afterwards! yay!), *HamletMachine, ~hellcorpceo, along with new awesome people as well, ~nillia, *MumboJumbo, *beckycloonan, =SpookyChan, ~Juudisu, `CapnSkusting, and =suzuran (it was her birthday and she didn't even tell us!!)! It was so great to see all of you even if we didn't talk much! Stay cool guys.

They really are awesome people, when they did their world tour (last year? year before?) I got to meet them in Sydney at the second meet they had and it was great to just chill out with 30 odd strangers who were all dA folks, and just discussing various issues with heidi and spyed. It was amazing to hear that they actually were taking in what we were saying, but also hearing some of the feedback they had gotten from other stop offs and knowing they weren't just going around and talking at us about how great the site is. I'm still waiting for some of the features they discussed then to come through, but at least I know they are trying. ^^

Great to hear you also got to meet so many other dA members in person too. =) One of my now good mates I actually met on that meet in Sydney. haha.
