Saw Brave yesterday! Overall I agree with the consensus that it's one of the weakest Pixar movies (it got really awkward right after the ~FATE CHANGE~), however that doesn't mean it didn't have great moments. And of course it was an incredibly beautiful and inspiring piece of animation. And of course I love Merida's red hair.
This part at the beginning (where Merida just goes out and has fun) was my favorite by far! And the song that goes with the scene is wonderful - "Touch the Sky" by Julie Fowlis [link]
So here is a landscape/lighting study, painted in Adobe Photoshop, partially from memory and with reference to what I could get out of the trailer: [link] This of course, serves as a desktop wallpaper (just download!)
The only part I liked about that movie was this part and every scene with her brothers in it (I loved them). Can you do a painting of them? It would be much appreciated. I love your work.
I agree about the weak part, but this is truly phenomenal! You are a lovely artist and a true example of what dA was made for: to share absolutely dazzling art. Thank you for allowing us to see your amazing talents.
I liked the movie. Don't really see how it was awkward, unless you're reffering to the Scottsmen in all their scottish "glory" after they climbed down from the tower.
